No Time to Die

No Time to Die

| April 01, 2024

In my opinion, there’s nothing like a good James Bond movie—likewise the titles. Ironically, we live in a day and age that the title of this article rings true—too true. There is no time to die. After all, there seems to be no time to do the things we want/need to do, much less not do at all because we are no longer here. There seems to be so many obligations and things that need our immediate attention.

Think about it…I bet if you asked 10 people, How have you been? The response from most of them would probably be the same...BUSY!!

Have you ever stopped and asked yourself why this is. Why do we build a life that keeps us so busy? Wouldn’t it be better to be able to take care of things we really want to, spend our time with people and in places we want to be, and at the end of the day…not be exhausted and still be full of love and joy?

Ironically, there is a rebuttal straight from the 007 movie. History isn’t kind to those who play God.

You may say…That isn’t what I’m doing! I’m not playing God!

But are you?

We worked with a younger couple for several years, albeit not successfully. They, like many, were busy with the American Dream. They owned a business, had two children, and were extremely dedicated to their family.  As perplexing as it may seem, they didn’t stop to take care of things that needed to be done to protect everything they were building. Their American Dream, like most, was built in a whirlwind and its foundation was faulty. They knew they needed to work on their foundation. They wanted to work on their foundation. BUT…they simply didn’t have time.

Regrettably, this husband and father’s life was cut short in a car accident. What seemed not to be a priority because it wouldn’t happen anytime soon, happened overnight. The family was completely unprepared. The business was completely unprepared. The next couple of years were a nightmare for his wife while she fought back her grief to be a mother, liquidate a business, care for her aging parents, endure a forced move from the house that was their home, and make drastic financial and lifestyle changes.

In the spirit of 007, I hope this gets you a little shaken, not just stirred.

“We want to and know we need to, but we just can’t find the time” turned out to be fatal words in which history was not kind.

The villain in the movie also had something to teach us. He said, Life is all about leaving something behind. If that is true, what will you leave behind—especially if you don’t have time to die?
